Check out: Ultraista

via Temporary Residence:

MEMBERS:  Laura Bettinson, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker
Formed in London in 2011, UltraĆsta is a multimedia trio founded on a mutual love of Afrobeat, krautrock, electronic and dance music, visual art, and tequila. Its members are vocalist/artist Laura Bettinson, and multi-instrumentalist producers Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker (whose collective resumes read like a guide to groundbreaking and culturally influential modern music). Their music is highly infectious, exquisitely crafted electronic kraut-pop. Favoring mantras over traditional choruses and distilling their compositions to the barest essentials, they possess the kind of masterful control over the pure anatomy of a pop song that only comes from having played a significant role in redefining the pop song in the 21st century.

Don't Sleep on: Stagnant Pools

via Polyvinyl:

Stagnant Pools are Bryan and Douglass Enas, two brothers (21 and 22) from Bloomington, Indiana.

With just one guitar and a drum kit, they make music which the Chicago Reader describes as "drone-heavy, slate-gray art-rock that should appeal to fans of Disappears, Joy Division, and Sonic Youth records from back when they were still actually scary."

After a couple of DIY releases, the sibling duo spent one day in the studio recording their debut full-length Temporary Room.

With a tour van as a recent graduation present, and shows under their belt with EMA and labelmates Japandroids, they’re releasing Temporary Room this summer and then hitting the road.
