The post-freeze trickle

Here is the first few new releases of 2009. While the big buzz is around the Animal Collective album I strongly endorse the Swervedriver reissue. It originally came out in 1993 a few years in to the shoegaze explosion of that period. Unlike the dreamier propents like Slowdive and Lush, Swervedriver had a really muscular groove that propelled things along. Think Jesus and Mary Chain w/ a meth-tweaked bassist and you have a fuzzy picture.

Enjoy.

Bon Iver - Blood Bank (Jagjaguwar)

Antony & the Johnsons - Crying Light (Secretly Canadian)

Flaming Lips - Christmas on Mars [DVD+CD] (Warner)

Animal Collective - Merriwether Post Pavillion (Domino)

Swervedriver - Mezcal Head (Second Motion)
